VELDON EUGENE “GENE” SPICER, JR. – Shawnee News-Star

Veldon Eugene “Gene” Spicer, Jr., age 56 a resident of McLoud, Oklahoma, handed away from this life at his dwelling January 31, 2023.

Funeral companies are scheduled for two:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma.  Gerd Fecht will officiate, and burial will comply with at Oak Grove Cemetery close to Asher, Oklahoma.  Casket bearers are Matthew Cook, Christopher Cook, Cody Cook, Robert Hamilton, Jeff Spicer, and Toby Spicer.

Gene was born February 24, 1966 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Veldon Eugene Spicer, Sr. and Sharon Kay (McNutt) Spicer.  He was born with a feisty persona and a 100% on-the-go angle, continuous.  He stored his momma hopping in his youthful years.  He graduated from Konawa High School in 1984, and attended Rose State College.  Gene proudly served as a Corporal within the United States Marine Corp.  While stationed in California, he and his first spouse, Millie welcomed their son, Tyler Charles.  He labored as a diesel mechanic for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. He married JoAnn Parks on March 20, 2008 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Gene was an avid hunter.  He cherished being outside.  There weren’t many ponds in St. Louis, Oklahoma that he had not fished in or thrown a fishing pole into.  His first job away from dwelling was working for an area farmer.  He saved his cash to purchase his horse, Sugar.  Splitting wooden, reducing down corn stalks, and chores that his dad gave to him, instilled a great work ethic which he carried all of his life.  You might depend on him to get the job completed.  Gene was a supportive, loving, caring, compassionate, devoted man.  These had been traits that he discovered from his candy momma.  When you fondly bear in mind Gene, keep in mind that he rooted for OU, cherished America, and was only a good ole’ nation boy.

He is survived by his loving spouse, JoAnn Spicer of the house; his mom, Sharon Spicer of St. Louis, Oklahoma; 4 sons, Tyler Spicer and spouse, Christina of McKinney, Texas, Matthew Cook of Oklahoma City, Christopher Cook and spouse, Stephanie of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Cody Cook and fiancé Jessica Reeves of Anderson, Ohio; one sister, Michelle Fidler and husband, Tracy of St. Louis, two sisters-in-law, Bekye Rackley and husband, Kenneth of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Rena Robbins and husband, Gary of Oklahoma City; 4 grandchildren, Taylor, Raylee, Kyra, and Landon Cook; grandbaby Spicer due in March; and quite a few nieces, nephews, cousins, different household, and mates.

He was preceded in dying by his dad, Pops; grandparents, S.T. and Inez McNutt, and George and Jewell Spicer.
