South Florida animal advocates, veterinarian help Rottweiler ‘Mellow’ after shooting



Animal advocates from Miami-Dade and Broward counties met on Saturday to speak about the wish to help an injured 90-pound canine they named Mellow.

The leaders of the Brandy Hunter Foundation, a North Miami Beach-based nonprofit group, and the iHeart Animal Rescue, a Fort Lauderdale-based nonprofit group, stated they’re operating to help the Rottweiler.

“He was shot, a gunshot wound that went through his front leg, just yesterday,” stated Cindy Mucciaccio, the founding father of the iHeartwork Animal Rescue.

They also are frightened about what Mucciaccio described as an building up in animal abuse circumstances in South Florida. Josh Fox, the chief director of the nonprofit group, agreed.

“Unfortunately is happening more and more. We are getting those emergency phone calls,” Fox stated on Saturday.

In the case of Mellow, Mucciaccio stated she didn’t need his leg to be amputated, so she requested the Sunshine Animal Hospital, at 9800 Pines Boulevard, in Pembroke Pines, and the Brandy Hunter Foundation’s advocates for help.

“We wanted to step in and save the quality of life of this dog,” Fox stated.

Eric Lerner, the nonprofit group’s director of particular initiatives, stated they have been proud to spouse with iHeartwork Animal Rescue.

Paige Bresky, the nonprofit group’s vp of promoting, stated it’s because the basis targets to “support the voiceless and the vulnerable.”

“We are seeing an escalation of violence towards pets right now,” Bresky stated.
