Hailing from an extended line of farmers who’ve tilled Oklahoma land since statehood, Lyman Urban has seen warmth waves come and go. But nothing might have ready the 49-year-old farmer for the temperatures June would deliver.
“We started planting soybeans as soon as we could get the crop in the ground on the 10th of June, and within 7 days of that timespan, the beans that we planted were not even up,” Urban stated. “The corn was looking good until about a week ago, and now it’s pretty much decided to go the other direction.”
