Oklahoma has record-breaking drought, crop harvest worsens for farmers

Hailing from an extended line of farmers who’ve tilled Oklahoma land since statehood, Lyman Urban has seen warmth waves come and go. But nothing might have ready the 49-year-old farmer for the temperatures June would deliver.

“We started planting soybeans as soon as we could get the crop in the ground on the 10th of June, and within 7 days of that timespan, the beans that we planted were not even up,” Urban stated. “The corn was looking good until about a week ago, and now it’s pretty much decided to go the other direction.”
