Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission Awards Grants to Area Schools

It was introduced not too long ago that fifty-six Oklahoma faculties and packages are getting hundreds of {dollars} to assist pay for his or her STEM curriculum that focuses on aeronautics and aviation.

Two of these packages are in western Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission introduced that Clinton High School was awarded $1,000 to assist kick begin the “You Can Fly” curriculum. Based on an outline from the most recent Commission assembly, Clinton High plans to introduce highschool STEM college students to the aviation business via a sequence of actions and business area journeys with a purpose of implementing the AOPA “You Can Fly” curriculum within the 2023-2024 tutorial faculty yr.

It was additionally introduced that Weatherford Public Schools has been awarded a $12,500 grant from the Commission to assist fund the brand new aeronautics curriculum at Weatherford High School. The agenda said that the “Eagle Aviation Program” for Ok – 12th grades that may expose all grade ranges to aviation & aerospace. Weatherford High School will implement AOPA curriculum, center faculty college students will implement PLTW curriculum, and elementary college students will learn books about aviation and take part in hands-on actions.

Other packages receiving funding embody Altus High School receiving $6,800 and STARBASE Oklahoma, an after faculty STEM program for space faculties receiving $25,000.
