19-year-old man arrested on murder charges in June double-shooting at Ponciana home

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on several murder charges following a shooting in June at a home in Poinciana, Florida, south of Kissimmee, according to Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a home on Saint Tropez Court on June 3, following a report of shots fired in the area. When deputies arrived, they found a man, later identified as Alejandro Armando Guzman, dead.

A second person was also hurt in the shooting, but their injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.

On Monday, more than a month after the shooting, OCSO announced the arrest of Safari Rodriguez in Guzman’s death. He was arrested on charges of premeditated murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.

He is being held at the Osceola County Department of Corrections on no bond, OCSO said.

On June 5, OCSO said there was an argument inside the home that became physical. A man reportedly went to retrieve a weapon and shot another man, who died, and a woman.

 Rodriguez was arrested by United States Marshals and deputies of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office on June 29 on an active warrant for attempted murder.
