Women’s Golf Tied for Third at Schooner Fall Classic


NORMAN, Okla. – University of Houston Women’s Golf sophomores Moa Svedenskiold and Alexa Saldana stood a few of the Top-15 leaders following the Second Round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
 
Svedenskiold completed with an even-par 70 at the 6,182-yard route and was once tied for 9th at 137 whilst Saldana loved the Cougars’ low spherical of the day with a 68 and was once tied for 13th at 138.
 
Starting off No. 1, Saldana overcame a bogey at No. 4 and returned to even par with a birdie at the par-4 5th hollow. That can be her simplest bogey of the day.
 
The Mexico City, local added any other birdie at No. 9 and closed her Second Round together with her ultimate birdie of the day at No. 18 to sign up for 5 others at 2-under.
 
Svedenskiold tired a couple of birdies in her ultimate 5 holes of the day and was once tied with Shreya Pai (North Texas) and Wake Forest teammates Rachel Kuehn and Mimi Rhodes.
 
Freshman Maelynn Kim was once tied for 23rd at 141 whilst senior Nicole Abelar was once tied for 41st at 144. Freshman Ellen Yates was once tied for 82nd at 155 whilst junior Hyeonji Kang – enjoying as a person – was once tied for 55th at 146.
 
Oklahoma (562), Kansas State (562), Oklahoma State (563), Purdue (563), Tulsa (564) and Iowa State (566) rounded out the Top 10.
 
Oklahoma State’s Maddison Hinchon-Tolchart stood atop the person leaderboard at 132 after capturing 64 Sunday. Carolina Lopez-Chacarra (Wake Forest) and Morgan Ketchum (Virginia Tech) have been tied for 2d at 133 whilst Lottie Woad (Florida State) and Macy Pate (Wake Forest) have been tied for fourth at 134.
 
Monday’s Final Round starts with an 8:30 a.m., break up tee get started off with the Cougars starting at 9:20 a.m.

PAIRINGS
For Monday’s Final Round, Houston will compete in teams with student-athletes from Oklahoma and Kansas State.
 
Yates starts the day for the Cougars off No. 1 at 9:20 a.m. with Abelar (9:30 a.m.), Kim (9:40 a.m.), Saldana (9:50 a.m.) and Svedenskiold (10 a.m) following. Kang starts her spherical at 9:50 a.m., off No. 10.

Following the Schooner Fall Classic, the Cougars tees off at the Illini Invitational at Medinah on Oct. 9-10 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.
 
From there, Houston closes the autumn season when it competes at the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas, on Oct. 20-22.
 
Following the vacation spoil, the Cougars open their spring season once they play at the Nexus Collegiate at Albany Golf Club in Nassau, Bahamas, on Feb. 12-13, 2024.
