Washington State QB Cam Ward dazzles again as No. 21 Cougars outlast No. 14 Oregon State in ‘Pac-2’ showdown

No. 21 Washington State were given an afternoon to keep in mind from quarterback Cameron Ward in the Cougars’ 38-35 win over No. 14 Oregon State. Ward hooked up on 28 of 34 makes an attempt for 404 yards passing and 5 general touchdowns, serving to the Cougars get the win in a matchup between the “Pac-2” faculties.

Cougars receiver Kyle Williams had a game-high 174 yards and scored a 63-yard landing on the second one offensive play from scrimmage.

Ward tossed 3 of his 4 landing passes to Josh Kelly, who completed the day with a game-high 8 catches for 159 yards. Ward’s 3rd landing cross to Kelly got here with 5:15 closing in the 3rd quarter to provide Washington State a 21-point lead. 

Oregon State rallied to make issues attention-grabbing overdue. Beavers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei hooked up with tight finish Jack Velling on a 5-yard landing with 1:12 left to chop the WSU lead down to a few, however WSU recovered the following onside kick to seal the victory. 

Ward is in his 2nd season with the Cougars after moving from FCS Incarnate Word following the 2021 season. Through 4 video games, Ward has 13 touchdowns with 0 interceptions.

Washington State has subsequent week off, then travels to UCLA on Oct. 7. Oregon State will host 4-0 Utah Saturday.
