Officials say a Washington state man who was once seeking to summit Mount Rainier collapsed and died near the highest of the mountain within the nationwide park

MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, Wash. — A Washington state man who was once seeking to summit Mount Rainier this week collapsed and died near the highest of the mountain within the nationwide park, officers mentioned.

National Park Service officers mentioned Friday that Brian Harper, of Bremerton, collapsed about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near the highest of the 14,441-foot (4,402-meter) mountain whilst on a guided climb led by way of Alpine Ascents International.

Guides may no longer hit upon a pulse and CPR at the 41-year-old was once unsuccessful, officers mentioned.

Climbing guides with Alpine Ascents and Rainier Mountaineering labored with National Park Service climbing and aviation rangers to convey Harper’s frame down from the summit.

Weather prerequisites have been “finally favorable” for a park helicopter to finish the venture round 10:30 a.m. Thursday, reliable mentioned.
