Video captures controversial arrest during traffic stop in Sunny Isles Beach


SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. – Cellphone video of a lady’s arrest during a traffic stop in Sunny Isles Beach Tuesday has been making the rounds on social media, with audience having combined reactions.

Police known the lady Wednesday as 32-year-old Ceceilia Mercado.

In the video, Mercado is at the back of the wheel of an Audi as her passenger is recording her interplay with the officials who requested her for her motive force’s license, alternatively she gave them her passport as an alternative.

The officials then requested her to step out of the automobile however she refused.

As an officer holds onto Mercado’s arm as she stays sitting in the automobile, her male passenger yells on the officer to let her pass and tells two law enforcement officials they’ll lose their jobs and that he’s going to sue the police division for $250,000.

The officer retaining onto the lady in the end yanks her out of the automobile and handcuffs her.

Some who seen the video on social media believed the officials had been overreacting whilst others mentioned she must have simply complied with their orders to start with.

Sunny Isles Beach police launched a commentary Tuesday night time, announcing the video didn’t seize all of the incident.

“The female driver shown in the video was stopped by our officers for traffic violations. She then stated she had ‘immunity.’ She repeatedly refused to comply with officers’ orders and was placed in handcuffs,” the commentary learn in phase. “Upon further investigation, it was determined that the diplomatic tag that was affixed to the car was counterfeit and the female driver was arrested for driving with a counterfeit tag.”

Local 10 News has asked Mercado’s arrest record from the police division.

Jail information display that, as of Wednesday morning, she is being held on the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.

She faces a price of getting a counterfeit registration, registration code or sticky label on a motor automobile.
