Mexican artist collaborates with USPS on pinatas stamps.

It’s a fiesta! The United States Postal Service has kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with new festive piñatas stamps.
The stamps are available 4 designs – two donkeys and two seven-pointed stars – which honor the standard Mexican fiesta favorites. Piñatas proceed to be the most important a part of many celebrations in Mexico, together with the party of posadas, a nine-day competition held in early December that commemorates Mary and Joseph’s adventure to Bethlehem sooner than the start of Jesus Christ.
USPS says the brilliant colour palette used to be impressed via the Mexican tradition, “including the vibrant colors of small-town houses, traditional hand-sewn dresses, handmade toys and flowers, and classic piñatas themselves.”
Mexican artist VÃctor Meléndez created the unique artwork and designed the stamps, whilst Antonio Alcalá served because the artwork director.
“One of the reasons I feel proud to work at the Postal Service is because we are one of the nation’s oldest and most admired public service institutions,” mentioned USPS leader processing and distribution officer and govt vice chairman Isaac Cronkhite, in a remark. “Part of that proud history is celebrating our multi-faceted heritage through stamps. Ours is truly a world culture, and our stamps allow us to weave together the many threads of our national tapestry, and piñatas are the perfect example of this.”
This is the 3rd immediately 12 months that the USPS has launched stamps to honor the Latino neighborhood. In 2021, they issued Day of the Dead stamps, and in 2022, they issued mariachi stamps impressed via film posters from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema of the Forties and Fifties.
The piñatas stamps are being bought in booklets of 20 via USPS and will also be bought on-line or at any postal retailer around the nation.
