Updated ESPN win projections after Sooners win

Just every week in the past, the ESPN matchup predictor had the Sooners projected to win only one sport down the stretch and end 5-7. How rapidly issues can change.

The Sooners’ win over Iowa State, coupled with blowout losses by Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Texas Tech, have shifted predictions within the Sooners’ favor.

Now Oklahoma’s projected to lose only one sport of their closing 4 and end 8-4. While not the Big 12 title or College Football Playoff many hoped could be attainable for the Sooners of their first season underneath Brent Venables, after the way in which Big 12 play began, an 8-4 end would offer a ton of optimism heading into the offseason.

Oklahoma has issues to enhance upon because it heads down the stretch, however its final two video games have proven indicators of a protection shifting in the fitting route for the rest of 2022.
