Two killed in Houston following car crash into Amtrak train


Two individuals have been killed Saturday evening in Houston after their car crashed into an Amtrak train when the driving force of the car tried to beat the train at a railroad crossing, police mentioned. 

The crash occurred at round 8 p.m. native time at Beaumont Highway and Van Hut Lane, when the driving force of the Chrysler 300 drove across the crossing arms that signaled the approaching train, based on a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which additionally notes that flashing crimson lights and a bell have been activated on the crossing to point the train’s arrival.

On influence with the train, the car engulfed in flames and the driving force and passenger of the car have been ejected, police mentioned. Both have been pronounced lifeless on the scene, based on police.

Two passengers on the Amtrak train have been transported to a neighborhood hospital, based on Amtrak spokesperson Kimberly Woods.

The train, which was touring from New Orleans to Los Angeles, had 81 passengers onboard on the time of the crash, mentioned Woods, who added that the train remained upright and intact on the rails following the crash.

Amtrak is working with the Vehicle Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to research the crash, based on Woods and a press release from the sheriff’s workplace.
