Twitter reactions: Devon Conway, Tom Latham lead New Zealand’s strong reply after Pakistan’s massive score



Devon Conway and Tom Latham led New Zealand’s strong reply after Pakistan’s 438 of their first innings on Day 2 of the continued first Test at National Stadium in Karachi.

Conway, who turned the quickest New Zealand batter to 1000 Test runs (19 innings), and Latham shaped a file highest 165-run opening partnership. Both Latham and Conway displayed utmost persistence as they stored Pakistan bowlers at bay. Wicketkeeper Latham stayed unbeaten on 78 whereas Conway remained undefeated on 82.

Earlier, Pakistan misplaced centurion skipper Babar Azam within the first over of the morning, however Agha Salman shined with the bat to assist the hosts attain a massive whole. Salman smashed his maiden Test century as the house workforce posted 438 of their first innings. Black Caps skipper Tim Southee led New Zealand’s bowling with 3/69 from 25.5 overs. Similarly, the trio of spinners Ajaz Patel, Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi bagged six wickets between them.
