Three Central Floridians indicted for the kidnapping of immigrant working in Florida – WFTV

ORLANDO, Fla. — Three individuals from Kissimmee have been indicted on kidnapping fees, related to a human smuggling operation.

Investigators stated it’s all related to the kidnapping of an immigrant from Mexico who was pressured into an SUV, held at gunpoint and pushed from Wisconsin to Central Florida.

According to legislation enforcement, the sufferer had been smuggled into the United States in 2021 and was being pressured to work off the debt by doing building right here.

Court information present he was working building right here in Florida, however his employer was taking most of the cash to repay the smugglers.

The immigrant then headed to Wisconsin to work and that’s when investigators say he was kidnapped at gunpoint and introduced again to Florida.

Records present his employer was Abasita Engracia-Gonzalez, also referred to as “Mary.”

Immigration legal professional Gail Seerum stated immigrants are sometimes afraid of turning to the police.

“I’ve heard stories of people working and not getting paid. And then being told, if you report us to the authorities, we’re going to report you to immigration,” Seerum stated.

In this case, the employee headed north to Abbotsford Wisconsin and began working in a sausage manufacturing unit.

That’s when he advised police he acquired threatening messages from Mary that said: “his family would be killed if he did not pay his debts.”

His mother even acquired a message that advised the mom that she could be getting her son returned in items.

Over the summer season, investigators stated “Mary’s” husband Felipe Engracia-Gonzalez and Gerardo Anselmo drove from Kissimmee to Wisconsin, held the sufferer at gunpoint, threw his telephone out the window and drove him again to Florida the place he was advised He wanted to work off his debt and that after six months Mary stated she may let him go.

“So, a lot of times they work, they don’t get paid. Sometimes there are threats, and unfortunately, sometimes immigrants become victims of crime,” Seerum stated.

“This is an extreme case. I have not heard of such an extreme case where an employer took such extreme actions,” Seerum stated. “So I’m very happy to hear that the authorities proper authorities were called.”

Seerum advised Channel 9 that usually immigrants are afraid to say something, however stated it could truly assist their authorized standing.
