UVALDE, Texas – Friday is the remaining day for early vote casting for the Nov. 7 elections, which incorporates a race we’re following intently — the Uvalde mayoral race.
On July 26, then-mayor Don McLaughlin introduced he was once stepping right down to run for a seat in the Texas House.
Now, 3 candidates are in a race to take the mayor seat: former mayor Cody Smith, Uvalde CISD instructor Veronica Martinez, and Lexi Rubio’s mother, Kim Rubio.
All 3 have stated they’re dedicated to serving to unite Uvalde it doesn’t matter what occurs on election day.
Veronica Martinez
Martinez stated she sees how divided the neighborhood is and desires to lend a hand bridge the distance and create working out.
“I am going to have to be firm but fair and understanding at the same time, just like working at the school with the children,” Martinez stated. “I decided to join the race for many reasons. One of them was to help our community, like everyone, you know, move forward.”
Kim Rubio
