Kris is a standard-bearer for pinot grigio, a grape whose reputation has led to a majority of wines made out of it being insipid and dull. Here, despite the fact that, we now have accents of honeysuckle and lime, in addition to a slight almond bitterness on the end. Alcohol via quantity: 12.5 p.c. Bottle weight: 480 grams (Light).

This juicy pink mix is in response to monastrell, with minor roles for syrah and petit verdot. It has sufficient heft to compare burgers or steaks, providing flavors of tea, olives and sarsaparilla over blackberry and plum. Vegan. ABV: 14.5 p.c. BW: 650 grams (Average).

Imported via Tri-Vin Imports. Distributed in the community via DMV Distributing.

Danube Plain, Bulgaria, $24

Here’s a textbook cabernet franc with herbaceous notes of tomato leaves and spice of white pepper over flavors of black plums, dry-cured black olives and tea. There’s so much happening on this wine. ABV: 14 p.c. BW: 630 grams (Average).

Imported and dispensed in the community via Bohemish Wines.
