LONDON – Several people were injured after the Flying Scotsman, the ancient steam locomotive, was once concerned in a low-speed crash with another heritage train in the Scottish Highlands on Friday, government stated.
The National Railway Museum stated the “shunting incident” happened at Aviemore Station in the Cairngorms National Park. The station is house to a heritage train line that takes guests on steam train journeys in northern Scotland.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated that emergency staff were alerted on Friday night time “to reports of a collision” involving two trains at Aviemore. Police Scotland stated the crash happened at “low speed.”
Two people were hospitalized as a precaution, and their accidents were not believed to be critical. Three others were handled on the scene and did not require health center remedy.
The Belmond and Strathspey Railway stated the Flying Scotsman locomotive was once being coupled with desk bound Royal Scotsman train carriages when the collision happened.
Police stated that an investigation was once underway.
The Flying Scotsman, which was once restored remaining 12 months as a part of its centenary celebrations, was once scheduled to be working journeys this weekend.
The steam engine, formally given its well-known title 100 years in the past, was once a carrier connecting passengers from London to Edinburgh. It rose to world repute when it recorded 100 mph (160 kph) on a check run, making it the primary locomotive in the U.Ok. to succeed in that velocity.
