Texas woman killed in single-vehicle crash near Questa | public safety


Bridget Varney, a 53-year-old Texas woman who had not too long ago relocated to Northern New Mexico, was killed when her car left the roadway and struck a tree late Friday evening (Dec. 30) near Questa, in accordance with former Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe.

Hogrefe stated deputies and Questa EMS & Fire models responded to the crash website on Highway 38 near mile marker 5 round 11 p.m.

“On arrival they noted the driver, and only occupant of the GMC pickup, was deceased from injuries sustained in the crash,” Hogrefe wrote in a press launch.

The investigation on the scene indicated Varney was touring westbound when her truck left the roadway. Speed and “possible driver inattention” have been elements in the crash, in accordance with Hogrefe, who added that Varney was additionally not carrying a seatbelt. He stated there was no indication of impairment or one other car being concerned in the crash.
