Texas court blocks state from investigating 2 families with transgender children



Friday’s ruling halts the company from investigating two families with transgender children.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — On Friday, a Travis County decide granted a second injunction in opposition to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).

The injunction bars the division from implementing the company’s rule investigating families that present gender-affirming care to their children as youngster abuse. Friday’s ruling halts the company from investigating two extra families with transgender children.

The court remains to be contemplating a request for extra aid to guard Texas PFLAG members with transgender children. It’s all a part of a lawsuit filed on behalf of PFLAG, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group, by a number of authorized teams together with Lambda Legal, the ACLU and a number of other others.

This ruling is simply the newest in a sequence of lawsuits in search of to finish investigations into families offering gender-affirming care to transgender children after Gov. Greg Abbott ordered the DFPS to analyze these families for youngster abuse again in February. 

In June, a Travis County decide issued a short lived restraining order that stopped the state from investigating mother and father as a part of one other lawsuit. 

The Briggle household has been on the entrance of the lawsuits filed and was beforehand underneath investigation by DFPS for offering gender-affirming healthcare to their 14-year-old transgender son.
