Texas City Dike Pier goes under emergency shutdown after out of control beach party, police say


TEXAS CITY, Texas (KTRK) — Police shut down the Texas City Dike Pier after a beach get together promoted on social media acquired out of hand on Saturday.

Texas City police compelled an emergency shutdown after calls of pictures fired, a number of assaults, medication, alcohol, and weapons violations.

According to Sergeant Allen Bjerke, the get together was closely promoted on social media however canceled by the group attributable to not having the right permits. Because of the widespread promotion, partygoers continued to attend.

The greatest difficulty for legislation enforcement was vehicles pouring out into the close by neighborhoods and partygoers packing an area comfort retailer car parking zone. Police targeted on getting the automobiles on the roadways out of city and off the pier.

At one level, the visitors was so thick that emergency automobiles couldn’t entry the beach. As a consequence, police chief Joe Stanton ordered a closure of the pier beginning at 4 p.m.

The pier re-opened simply after midnight when the roads had been clear in time for the busy summer season season and the Hall of Fame Fishing Tournament.
