Taylor Currie Named GAC Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference introduced the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the thirteenth week of the 2022-23 season. Arkansas Tech’s Taelon Peter and Harding’s Taylor Currie shared the Men’s honor whereas Henderson State’s Ashley Farrar and Southern Nazarene’s Hannah Giddey break up the Women’s award.

Peter averaged 25.0 factors per sport, shot 52.1 % from the ground and linked on 14-of-32 3-point tries as the Wonder Boys picked up a pair of wins. He made 9 3-point area objectives and scored 28 factors in opposition to Harding. He went for 29 in a nine-point win in opposition to Northwestern Oklahoma State and adopted up with 18 factors in opposition to Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Currie led the convention by averaging 25.7 factors and 10.3 rebounds throughout three contests final week. He went 11-for-14 in scoring 29 factors in opposition to rival Arkansas Tech. He added 13 rebounds for his twelfth double-double of the season. He totaled 29 factors and rebounds in opposition to SWOSU adopted by 19 factors and 9 boards in opposition to Northwestern Oklahoma State.

#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ashley Farrar, Henderson State, G, Sr., Green Forest, Arkansas Farrar guided the Reddies to 3 wins that included clinching a spot in the GAC Championships area. She topped 20 factors in all three video games. Against Ouachita Baptist, she netted 30 factors on 9-of-17 taking pictures, together with 3-for-6 on 3-point tries. She totaled 21 factors and eight rebounds in opposition to Southeastern Oklahoma State adopted by 24 factors in opposition to East Central.

#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hannah Giddey, Southern Nazarene, F, Jr., Melbourne, Australia

Giddey helped the Crimson Storm declare a share of the regular-season title. Against Oklahoma Baptist, she collected 10 factors, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks. In a highway win at Southern Arkansas, she scored 21 factors on 10-for-14 taking pictures, and grabbed 9 rebounds. She went 8-for-10 in tallying 17 factors plus eight rebounds and 7 assists in opposition to Arkansas-Monticello.
