Information about what triggered the inmate to be hospitalized wasn’t instantly out there.
TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — A 56-year-old inmate died at John Peter Smith Hospital’s ICU on Tuesday, based on medical expert data.
The inmate, recognized as Kelvin Lavon Brown, is the tenth individual to die in the custody of Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office this 12 months, based on WFAA’s partners at Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The sheriff’s workplace mentioned in a news launch that Brown was arrested on Sept. 6, 2022, and charged with abandoning/endangering a baby with intent to return.
Brown was later transferred from Tarrant County jail to John Peter Smith Hospital on Oct. 28, the sheriff’s workplace mentioned. According to officers, Brown was being handled for stage 4 most cancers when he died.
“Every death is tragic and we do the best we can to make sure our inmates have the best conditions possible while in our jail,” Sheriff Bill Waybourn said in a statement. “Unfortunately, this inmate was terminally ill when he came into our facility.”
The sheriff’s workplace mentioned the case can be below investigation by quite a few businesses, together with the Texas Attorney General’s Office, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and JPS Hospital.
