T20 World Cup 2022: World reacts to dominant England victory in semi-final



Alex Hales and Jos Buttler placed on a present with the bat as England annihilated India by ten wickets in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).

Put in to bat first, India posted 168/6 on the board in their stipulated overs. Hardik Pandya (63 off 33 balls) and Virat Kohli (50 off 40 balls) scored half-centuries, whereas the remaining batters KL Rahul (5), Rohit Sharma (27), Suryakumar Yadav (14) and Rishabh Pant (6) couldn’t contribute a lot to the group’s whole.

Wrist-spinner Adil Rashid was the stand-out bowler for England, selecting up the prized wicket of Suryakumar and conceding solely 20 runs in his full quota of 4 overs.

Chasing 160 for victory, England reached the end line with out breaking a sweat. The duo of Hales and Buttler smashed Indian bowlers to elements of the bottom, sharing an unbeaten 170-run stand to overhaul the goal with 4 overs to spare. This was a document partnership for any wicket in Men’s T20I World Cup matches.

‘Man of the Match’ Hales remained not out on 86 off 47 balls, whereas captain Buttler completed with an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls.
