Swimming & Diving Wins Houston Diving Invitational and Rice Fall Splash Invitational


HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program closed its weekend motion with victories at each the Houston Diving Invitational and Rice Fall Splash Invitational on Saturday.
 
At the Houston Diving Invitational, the Cougars swept the highest 4 spots for a moment consecutive day as 5 divers earned NCAA Zone Cuts within the platform tournament. At Rice, the Cougars completed with 21 podium spots, together with 5 person first-place finishes and one relay victory.
 
RICE FALL SPLASH INVITATIONAL
Sophomore Alondra Ortiz began day two sturdy for the Cougars as she secured her moment first-place end of the weekend with a 2:02.82 within the 200-yard butterfly and 3rd within the 400-yard IM (4:30.43).  
 
Junior Adelaide Meuter captured moment position within the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.22) and Abbie Alvarez earned two 3rd position finishes in each classes of the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.40 and 2:04.74).
 
For a moment consecutive day, fifth-year Audrey McKinnon positioned first within the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.83) whilst junior Henrietta Fangli adopted in moment position (2:21.57).
 
Sophomore Liya Goupil endured the tempo for Houston as she used a 51.83 within the 100-yard freestyle for first and earned a second-place end within the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.05).
 
Freshman Elizabeth Jimenez picked up her moment collegiate first-place end by way of touching the wall at 2:01.51 within the 200-yard backstroke. Senior Danielle Titus swam a 2:03.98 to assert moment within the tournament and positioned 3rd within the 100-yard again (57.09).
 
The Cougars swept the 100-yard breaststroke as freshman Evelyn Entrekin clinched her first collegiate first-place end with a 1:03.99, adopted by way of Fangli in moment (1:04.34) and McKinnon in 3rd (1:04.62).
 
Junior Mary Catherine Jurica earned her moment weekend podium as she positioned 3rd within the 50-yard freestyle (24.16).
 
Senior Anna Ervin earned her first podium of the weekend as she finished a 25.60 within the 50-yard butterfly.
 
The Cougars added two further podium finishes within the 50-yard breaststroke as Fangli touched the wall for moment (29.75) and Entrekin in 3rd (30.12).

Houston’s squad of Jurica, Goupil, Jimenez and Meuter sealed the victory for the Cougars on the Rice Fall Splash Invitational, as the crowd posted a three:29.98 within the 400-yard freestyle relay.

 

The Cougars completed in first position with ratings of 436.5 and 428. Rice positioned moment (376.5, 373) and Denver completed 3rd (310, 286).

 

HOUSTON DIVING INVITATIONAL

Fifth-year Chase Farris earned her moment first-place end of the weekend as she led the best way in Houston’s sweep within the platform festival. Farris took first (247.20), adopted by way of freshman Michelle McLeod in moment (246.60) and junior Josie Graves in 3rd (238.15) and junior Alexa Massari in 6th (225.05).

 

Farris, McLeod, Graves, Grelz and Massari each and every earned NCAA Zone Cuts within the platform festival.
