Support for using federal land to house migrants

A majority of New Yorkers make stronger using federal houses as transient migrant shelters, in accordance to a Siena College Research Institute Poll.

By a 56%-36% margin, Siena ballot respondents stated they had been in want of the usage of federally-owned land and constructions as shelters, and 59% stated they had been in want of creating it more uncomplicated for migrants to get paintings authorizations.

Sixty % stated they had been in want of complete immigration reform to make a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented immigrants within the U.S., with 50% announcing they antagonistic of a border wall spanning everything of the southern border with Mexico.

“Over 40% of all New Yorkers believe that immigrants take more than they offer society,” SCRI Director Don Levy stated. “About a third believe current migrants are dangerous, perhaps even criminal, only want hand-outs and are a source of illegal drugs. But in each of these cases more New Yorkers disagree with, rather than hold, these judgments.”

Other ballot solutions point out:

  • A majority of respondents, 61%, disagree that immigrants simply need loose govt handouts;
  • 48% disagree that immigrants take greater than they offer on the subject of financial task;
  • 53% don’t consider migrants are the supply of unlawful medication within the U.S.

The ballot used to be performed from Sept. 5-8, polling 414 New Yorkers by the use of telephone and 386 extra from “a proprietary online panel of New Yorkers.” The effects have a margin of error of +/- 3.8 proportion issues. For extra effects, click here.
