Stranger offers wedding venue to Tampa couple after original location backed out


TAMPA, Fla. — Chris Caro and his fiancé Sarah Smith gave up on their dream wedding earlier this yr after the venue they’d booked backed out – simply three months earlier than their massive day.

ABC Action News aired Caro and Smith’s story in March, and it caught the eye of Cindy Manchesi, who manages the historic Winthrop Barn event venue in Brandon.

“What happened to them, losing their date, and losing their big dream of getting married, it bothered me,” Manchesi mentioned. She emailed ABC Action News with a suggestion for the couple.

The house owners of the venue – as soon as a cattle barn in-built 1848 – needed to donate the whole facility to Caro and Smith for his or her wedding and reception.

“They said, ‘it’s a call to service.’ And we needed to step in and see what we can do to help,” Manchesi mentioned.

After the final venue was canceled, Smith mentioned they might not afford to rebook each the wedding and reception they needed. That was till the Winthrop Barn contacted them.

Smith mentioned she fell in love with the venue.

“It’s lovely, they’ve performed such an important job right here. It’s beautiful,” she said.

For his part, Caro was blown away by the generous offer.

“I never, never imagined this,” he mentioned.

The couple had deliberate to be married on Labor Day weekend, however Caro obtained sick simply days earlier than. Now they’re searching for one other date to tie the knot on the Winthrop Barn.
