Flights to and from Fort Myers resumed Tuesday night time after an incident on Southwest Florida International Airport’s sole runway grounded flights for about 9 hours.
Flights on Wednesday continued regular operations.
The airport introduced {that a} United Airlines flight 2274 from Newark, New Jersey, had blown two tires upon touchdown about 11:20 a.m. By 8:15 p.m., the airport famous that staff towed the plane, clearing the runway.
There have been 154 passengers and 6 crew members on the combat, stated Josh Freed, United spokesperson.Â
Passengers have been bused to the terminal and no accidents have been reported, stated Victoria Moreland, spokesperson for the Lee County Port Authority.

“United Airlines takes the lead on removing their aircraft and RSW will do everything we can to assist them,” Moreland wrote in a press release.
Freed stated the removing of the plane was delayed as a result of there wasn’t a jack at RSW and one was being introduced in from elsewhere. He didn’t know the place.  Â
Airlines that fly out of RSW embody American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air Canada, JetBlue Airways, Frontier Airlines,  and Spirit.
Tuesday’s incident got here two weeks after flights resumed on the airport within the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. The airport shut down Sept. 27, a day earlier than the near-Category 5 hurricane stormed Southwest Florida, leaving the airport with out electrical energy or water.
