MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Several South Florida schools have been the goal of a series of “swatting” hoaxes Tuesday morning, scaring college students and oldsters and main police to swarm a number of campuses.
At least 9 schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties have been focused by false threats.
Large police presences may very well be seen at Ronald Reagan High School in Doral, West Broward High School in Pembroke Pines and at Miami Central High School.
It was full chaos at Miami Central as mother and father rushed to take their youngsters out of college.
“My child called me talking about ‘code red 911,’” dad or mum Shaynae Anderson stated. “I don’t know, so I had to come get my child.”
Students stated they heard stories of an lively shooter on campus, so that they hid in corners and away from doorways for security.
“It was a scary moment, they were like panicking when they (made) the announcement,” Tenth-grader Talia Landingham stated.
Broward County Public Schools despatched this message to oldsters:
“This message is to inform you that this morning, out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of our students and staff, all District high schools were placed on Secure status while law enforcement investigated threats to various campuses. At this time, the schools have been cleared. The threats are believed to be unfounded and schools have returned to normal operations.”
Police are investigating.
