GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — A small plane crashed into and received caught in stay power lines Sunday night in Maryland, inflicting widespread power outages in the encompassing county as officers tried to extricate the plane.
It wasn’t instantly clear how many individuals have been aboard. Pete Piringer, chief spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service, initially tweeted that two folks have been on the plane. He later posted a video message that mentioned three folks have been on board and unhurt.
The video confirmed a small white plane positioned nostril up close to a power tower. The plane was caught about 100 ft (30 meters) above the bottom, and the transmission lines remained stay, complicating rescue efforts, Piringer mentioned.
“Everything remains to be energized at the moment,” he mentioned.
The utility Pepco reported that about 80,000 clients have been with out power in Montgomery County.
The crash came about in Gaithersburg, a small metropolis about 24 miles (39 kilometers) northwest of Washington, D.C.
Piringer didn’t state a suspected trigger for the crash.
