Second Republican presidential debate draws fewer viewers than first, with 9.5 million watching



NEW YORK – The 2nd Republican presidential debate this week attracted fewer viewers than the primary debate in August, with an estimated 9.5 million tuning into Wednesday night time’s tournament.

The debate was once the second one in a row that the front-runner, former President Donald Trump, skipped to have the highlight apply him as a substitute of his far-off opponents.

Viewership was once down from the 12.8 million who tuned into August’s debate, which marked the primary time a lot of America heard from the opposite Republicans hoping to tackle Trump.

The 9.5 million who watched Wednesday’s two-hour debate, held on the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, integrated those that watched on two Fox News channels, spouse Univision and its streaming provider, the Nielsen corporate stated.

The tv viewership determine is an estimate of what number of people have been watching the debate at any given minute. The debate was once simulcast on Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network.

The debate, moderated via Fox News Channel’s Dana Perino, Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney and Univision’s Ilia Calderón, in large part did not come with dialogue of Trump, just like the primary debate. But a couple of applicants, together with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, joined former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in being extra crucial of the previous president.

Trump’s first presidential debate in August 2015 drew 24 million viewers.
