San Antonio couple claimed $218,730 in Social Security, VA benefits intended for dead mother



A San Antonio couple was once sentenced in federal court docket Tuesday to 5 years probation and ordered to pay $218,730 in restitution for robbery of presidency price range.

According to court docket paperwork, Tracy Stephanie Grubbs, 59, did not document her mother’s dying to the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

From January 2011 to December 2018, Grubbs gained and negotiated SSA and VA receive advantages bills intended for her deceased mother. Grubbs would write assessments to her husband, Gary Lewis Grubbs, 70, who would negotiate the test and use the price range for his personal receive advantages.

Federal officers had no thought what was once happening till SSA officers discovered a dying certificates for the girl.

“Long term fraud deprives government agencies like the Social Security Administration and the VA of valuable resources,” stated U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza for the Western District of Texas. “My office, along with our law enforcement partners, will continuously pursue these cases to guard vital resources for Americans in need.”
