Rescuer, who shot South Carolina man who fell into lake, acted in self defense, prosecutors say



Charges won’t be filed towards a South Carolina man who fatally shot a jet skier he initially tried to rescue, prosecutors introduced on Friday.

Two jet skiers, a man and a lady, fell into Lake Keowee in Salem, South Carolina, on Tuesday, and have been rescued by one other man and girl on a pontoon boat, in response to a launch from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Neither the couple on the boat nor the girl in the water have had their identities made public by officers. The deceased jet skier is Nathan Drew Morgan, officers mentioned in a assertion.

The jet skiers weren’t carrying life jackets once they fell into the water, prompting the pair on the pontoon boat to step in and assist, officers mentioned. As the pair have been rescued the jet ski continued to drive in circles in the water.

Morgan died on the pontoon boat.
