Red snapper economically and culturally important to Florida

Last week, I joined Rep. John Rutherford in introducing the “Red Snapper Act”.

This invoice would stop the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from implementing space closures within the South Atlantic till the South Atlantic Great Red Snapper Count research is full, and the findings are built-in into the fishery’s inventory evaluation. This invoice would make sure that fishing coverage is ready with one of the best out there science and that new analysis taxpayers paid for is correctly used.
Red snapper fishing is a staple in Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic waters, and economically and culturally important to Florida.

Despite vital significance to Florida’s financial system, the federal authorities has used outdated and one-dimensional science to handle purple snapper in federal waters.

As a Floridian and member of the House pure Resources Committee, accountable oversight of our nation’s wildlife, atmosphere, and fishing trade is certainly one of my priorities.
