Police officer walks out of Miami-Dade jail after son shoots himself at home


MIAMI – Stephanie Alondra Jerez, an officer with the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, used a bag to cover her face after strolling out of the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday.

Jerez, 25, was once allegedly cooking within the kitchen when her 3-year-old son grabbed her gun and shot himself within the foot on Sunday afternoon at their home in Homestead, police stated.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue workforce flew the boy to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, and Homestead law enforcement officials arrested Jerez on a rate of kid forget with nice physically hurt.
