Police: Man arrested after throwing pipe bombs at San Francisco police car during pursuit

Officials say a person has been arrested after he allegedly knocked out a parishioner inside of a San Francisco Catholic church after which threw pipe bombs at a patrol car during a car chase

SAN FRANCISCO — A person has been arrested for allegedly knocking a parishioner subconscious inside of a San Francisco Catholic church and throwing pipe bombs at a patrol car during a car chase, government mentioned Monday.

The 42-year-old Concord guy used to be arrested Sunday by way of California Highway Patrol officials in Martinez, east of San Francisco, following a 30-minute pursuit, San Francisco Assistant Police Chief David Lazar mentioned.

The suspect used to be booked on suspicion of tried homicide, illegal ownership of an explosive tool and different crimes.

Police have been known as after the person punched a parishioner within the head during mass at the Saints Peter and Paul Church within the town’s North Beach group, quickly knocking him out, Lazar mentioned.

Peter Marlow, spokesperson for the San Francisco Archdiocese, advised KTVU-TV, that the person assaulted the parishioner Sunday night time after being reprimanded for failing to consume the consecrated host at Communion.

The guy pulled a knife as he left the church and led officials who had answered to 911 calls on a car chase thru town streets, Lazar alleged.

A couple of blocks from the church, the fleeing motive force threw a pipe bomb at officials who “noticed the flames and may just really feel when the bomb detonated,” and he threw a second, larger bomb before crossing the Bay Bridge, Lazar alleged.

The officers weren’t injured.

CHP officials who took over the pursuit from San Francisco police arrested the person after he crashed his car, government mentioned.
