Former Australian batter Matthew Hayden has rejoined the Pakistan males’s group as a mentor for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) introduced on Friday.
Notably, Hayden had served as batting advisor of the Pakistan group within the final World Cup in 2021, the place the Men in Green reached the semifinals defeating India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland, and Namibia within the league matches.
“I welcome Matthew Hayden back in Pakistan colours. He is a proven performer with his credentials acknowledged and recognised world-over. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge about Australia’s conditions, and I am confident his involvement will significantly benefit our extremely talented cricketers for the World Cup and future tours Down Under”, mentioned PCB chairman Ramiz Raja in a press release.
Hayden will be a part of the aspect in Brisbane on October 15, after Pakistan’s arrival from Christchurch following a T20I tri-series involving Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand.
The Babar Azam-led aspect will start their T20 World Cup marketing campaign in opposition to arch-rivals India on October 23 in Melbourne. They will then face two groups from the qualifiers in Perth earlier than travelling to Sydney for a match in opposition to South Africa, adopted by their final group fixture in opposition to Bangladesh in Adelaide.
