Parker Valby Earns SEC Women’s Runner of the Week Honors


GAINESVILLE, Fla.- Florida Redshirt Sophomore Parker Valby was named the Southeastern Conference’s Women’s Runner of the Week, the convention introduced on Tuesday. This is her first SEC Women’s Runner of the Week honor. She beforehand received the 2021 SEC Women’s Freshman Runner of the Year.

Valby earned this honor after her first-place end at the Arturo Barrios Invite in College Station, Texas, this previous Saturday. She crossed the end line first out of 326 rivals with a time of 18:58.2 and helped the Gators to a third-place crew end.

Her time improves upon her earlier greatest of 19:41.38 (2021 NCAA South Regional) by 43.18 seconds. This new greatest time provides Valby the second quickest 6k in Florida historical past, solely 3.22 seconds behind the college file. Valby’s time at the Arturo Barrios Invite would have positioned first at the 2021 Women’s National Championship by 27.1 seconds.

The Gators are scheduled to journey to the SEC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 28 in Oxford, Miss. to compete in the convention championships.
