Oklahoma man draws consecutive sentences in Webb City bar assault | News

A Jasper County decide sentenced an Oklahoma man Monday to consecutive jail phrases totaling 12 years in reference to the assault of a Joplin man outdoors a bar in Webb City.

Judge Dean Dankelson assessed Kevin W. Buff, 33, of Claremore, Oklahoma, seven years on a conviction for second-degree assault and 5 years on a depend of armed prison motion, and ordered that the sentences run consecutively.

Buff pleaded responsible to the fees simply earlier than he was to go to trial Nov. 9 in a plea deal that known as for the consecutive sentences in the assault of Joplin resident Levi Farmer on Sept. 4, 2020, outdoors the 66 Sports Bar in Webb City.

Farmer testified at a preliminary listening to in 2021 that he went to the bar with mates and was returning to the group’s desk from the restroom and located Buff, whom he didn’t know, and 4 different males and two girls who had come in with the defendant seated on the desk along with his mates.

He mentioned that when he reached for a lit cigarette that he had left burning in an ashtray, Buff instructed him to get the cigarette away from him. Farmer mentioned he retreated to the bar to keep away from an argument and texted a buddy, asking them to return decide him up.

Farmer went outdoors to fulfill his journey, and Buff and his 4 male mates adopted, he testified. Buff requested if he was leaving and he instructed him that he was and turned to go to his buddy’s car.

“I heard three steps real quick and got hit over the head with a whiskey glass,” he testified.

The sufferer mentioned Buff stored hitting him in the face with the damaged glass, knocking him out and reducing him up in a fashion that left him in want of 100 stitches. He suffered everlasting scarring to his face in the assault.
