Republicans in Congress are praising the inclusion of language to rescind the Covid vaccine mandate for service members within the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act.
The House handed the $858 billion NDAA final week and the Senate might approve it as early as Thursday night.
At a news convention Thursday morning, GOP Senators, together with Oklahoma Senator James Lankford, stated the mandate was incorrect from the start, has contributed to a worsening recruiting disaster for the army and, with the pandemic largely behind us, should go.
“We’re ready to just get back to business and to be able to focus on areas where we need to focus as a nation,” stated Sen. Lankford (R-OK) on the news convention. “So, let’s get back to that today, let’s get this NDAA passed.”
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), for whom this yr’s NDAA is called, agreed in an interview Thursday that ending the mandate will increase recruitment.
“It should help,” Inhofe stated. “In fact, we have evidence that shows, in terms of polling data and all the others, it’ll help us.”
