Oklahoma Co. DA Dismisses Abuse, Sex Crime Charges Against Former OCPD Officer


A former Oklahoma City police officer is now not dealing with home abuse and intercourse crime prices in reference to a Nov. 2021 arrest.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater informed News 9 that three prices filed towards Luis Maldonado — first-degree rape, home abuse by strangulation and threatening an act of violence — had been dismissed Thursday forward of a trial set to start later this month.

Maldonado’s Nov. 2021 arrest got here roughly two weeks after a jury acquitted him of comparable crimes towards an ex-girlfriend in 2019.

Prater mentioned jail cellphone calls between Maldonado and the newest sufferer revealed the sufferer allegedly apologized to Maldonado and asserted that the assault was, as a substitute, a misunderstanding.

Because the sufferer allegedly informed Maldonado that the rape did not occur, Prater mentioned the district legal professional’s workplace cannot carry the case to trial.
