Norway spruce from West Virginia headed to US Capitol

A 63-foot Norway spruce from West Virginia is on its method to the US Capitol.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A 63-foot (19-meter) Norway spruce from the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia is on its method to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol to be the Christmas tree for 2023.

Snow fell at the group participants Wednesday in Monongahela National Forest as they harvested the tree decided on for this 12 months’s vacation season.

The tree was once decided on by way of Jim Kaufmann, Director of the Capitol Grounds for the Architect of the Capitol, in accordance to the USDA Forest Service.

Over the following a number of days, the tree might be taken to a number of towns in West Virginia sooner than arriving within the Capitol in Washington. The Forest Service stated the tree might be embellished with hundreds of hand made adorns from the folk of West Virginia. The tree might be lit someday after Thanksgiving.
