PENSACOLA, Fla. (WHNT) — An Arab man was arrested in Florida final week in connection to what officers are calling a “dark web fraud scheme.”
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Wade Hampton Helms, 34, of Arab, was arrested by Arab Police after investigators acquired reviews of “possible fraud related to Helms” at a Pensacola-area credit score union.
Investigators declare Helms lived in Pensacola and labored on the credit score union through the time of the fraud.
Agents say Helms misused his worker entry to compromise accounts on the credit score union, took the members’ private identification, and gave it to 3rd events on the darkish web. They additionally declare he assisted these third events with the ability to steal cash from these accounts.
The affected members of the credit score union have been notified.
Helms was charged with one rely of offenses towards laptop customers, techniques, networks or digital gadgets; eight counts of utilizing a private identification information; 34 counts of illegal possession of private identification information; and one rely of unlawfully utilizing a two-way communications gadget.
Helms was transported to Pensacola after the arrest and booked into the Escambia County Jail on a $47,000 bond.
