New York photographer exhibits portraits of grief after gun violence in Miami

MIAMI – A photographer captured 44 grieving moms ceaselessly impacted by way of gun violence. Many of them have became their ache into activism.

Kathy Shorr, of Brooklyn, New York, requested the gang of moms to take her to puts the place they felt hooked up to their kids.

“This is a major problem. This is an epidemic and we stand here today because we know change can be made,” Shorr stated.

The ladies’s portraits can be on show off in Miami’s Overtown group till November. The pictures are covered up on a fence on the Theodore Gibson Park, at 350 NW 13 St.

“A child who loses a parent is called an orphan, a spouse who loses their partner is called a widow, but there is no word to describe a parent who loses their child,” Shorr stated.

Tanya Fincher noticed the show off and he or she used to be in tears. She stated the moms’ gun violence grief reminded her of her personal grief after a capturing took her kid’s existence.

“I get emotional because I feel her pain,” Fincher stated. “I am a mother. I have been there.”
