The recently-concluded 2022 version of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was a scatterbrained one for Mumbai Indians (MI). For the primary time in 15 years, the five-time champions completed in the final place on the league desk.
During the course of the season, MI tried as many as 21 completely different gamers out of the 24 that they had in their squad in 2022. Despite that, Arjun Tendulkar – son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar – didn’t get any game for his franchise.
Notably, Arjun was signed for INR 30 lakhs in the 2022 mega public sale however didn’t make his approach into the enjoying XI. Even in the earlier season, the junior Tendulkar didn’t get a game for the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai staff.
Following a disappointing season, MI bowling coach Shane Bond has opened up on Arjun’s non-selection in MI’s enjoying XI. Bond acknowledged that the younger all-rounder nonetheless has some extra work to do ‘on his batting and fielding, particular’.
“He’s got some work to do. When you’re playing for a team like Mumbai, making the squad is one thing but entering the playing XI is another. He still has a lot of hard work and development to do,” Bond instructed Sportskeeda.
“When you play at this level, there’s a fine line between giving everyone a game… but you have to earn your spot too. Arjun needs to work on his batting and fielding before finding a place on the team. Hopefully, he can make those progressions and earn a spot in the team,” he added.
