Mount Vernon allocates $1.2 million for guaranteed income program

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — Mount Vernon is the most recent town providing a guaranteed income to a couple citizens.

Two hundred other folks have been randomly picked to get $500 each and every month and obtain monetary counseling.

The investment comes from the government’s American Rescue Plan.

Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard says the investment places citizens on a greater trail to luck.

“It made a difference. It really supplemented and helped you to make different decisions,” Mount Vernon resident Randy Cooper stated.

“We understand that most people are one emergency away from financial ruin,” Patterson-Howard stated.

Mount Vernon has allotted $1.2 million for the guaranteed income program.
