Mississippi St hires Oklahoma’s Selmon as athletic director

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi State has employed former Oklahoma assistant athletic director Zac Selmon as its AD.

Selmon is the son of former OU soccer nice Dewey Selmon and nephew of fellow Sooner legends Lucious and Lee Roy Selmon, the latter a Pro Football Hall of Famer.

Zac Selmon beforehand labored as Oklahoma’s deputy AD for exterior engagement and senior affiliate AD for administration and improvement. Selmon began 4 years at tight finish for Wake Forest and graduated with a level in faith and worldwide research.

MSU President Mark E. Keenum cited Selmon’s household athletic heritage in a news launch and stated Friday that the varsity discovered an impressive chief with a servant’s coronary heart.

Selmon replaces John Cohen, who left in October to grow to be AD at Auburn. Bracky Brett had served as MSU’s interim AD and guided this system by way of the emotional aftermath of soccer coach Mike Leach’s sudden death last month from a coronary heart situation.

Brett named Bulldogs defensive coordinator Zach Arnett as interim coach earlier than promoting him to head coach.
