MIAMI – A Miami man may spend the following 5 years in federal jail after pleading guilty to distributing tens of millions of bucks price of adulterated HIV medication.
Prosecutors accused Armando Herrera, 43, and quite a lot of co-conspirators of organising firms in Florida, California, Texas and Washington to promote and distribute adulterated pharmaceuticals, most commonly HIV medicines, to wholesale pharmaceutical subscribers.
“Herrera and his co-conspirators created false documentation to make it appear as though the drugs were acquired legitimately when, in fact, they were not,” a news unlock from the U.S. Department of Justice states. “The pharmaceutical suppliers then sold the drugs to pharmacies, which dispensed the adulterated prescription drugs to unwitting patients.”
Prosecutors stated the crowd made at least $16.7 million from the operation.
Herrera pleaded guilty to a price of conspiracy to introduce adulterated and misbranded medication into interstate trade, prosecutors stated.
He’s scheduled to be sentenced in federal courtroom on Dec. 21.
