Miami-Dade school security guard on felony probation, was not permitted to carry gun



NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A school security guard in Miami-Dade County was arrested Wednesday on accusations that he was wearing a gun on campus although he was not permitted to possess any guns whilst on felony probation.

According to his arrest document, Demetrius Lamarr Rice Jr., 26, of Miami, was taken into custody out of doors the Gan Frida School, positioned at 2221 NE 171st St. in North Miami Beach.

Police stated information confirmed that Rice was on felony probation for grand robbery.

According to the document, a North Miami Beach police officer approached Rice Wednesday as he was status on the entrance steps of the school with a black handgun holstered on his hip.

Police stated Rice equipped the officer with 3 varieties of id – a Florida motive force’s license, a Florida hid guns allow and a Florida security license.

According to the document, his hid guns allow have been revoked and the security license was “in review.”

Police stated the officer contacted Rice’s probation officer, who showed that he was not permitted to carry or possess a firearm whilst on probation.

Rice was arrested on fees of displaying a firearm at a school, wearing a firearm as a security officer when not permitted and violating the phrases of his probation.

Local 10 News has reached out to the school for remark and is waiting for a reaction.
