Man stabbed woman in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea after ‘she found a new partner’



LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. – According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a past due Sunday night time stabbing in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea was once the results of dating problems, the suspect’s good friend advised deputies.

It took place simply earlier than 9:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Ocean Drive. Medics took the sufferer, a woman, to Broward Health North with critical accidents.

A newly-released arrest record states that the suspect, Damion Matthews, 47, of Pembroke Pines, advised a good friend previous in the day that he was once going to “kill” the woman, as a result of she was once “moving on from their relationship” as a result of “she found a new partner.”

Deputies stated Matthews stabbed the woman two times in the neck whilst she was once seated in her Jeep. The record states Matthews left in his personal SUV after bystanders intervened.

Matthews then referred to as his good friend and advised him that “he hurt (redacted) badly and hopes that she lives,” BSO Detective Pedro Almodovar Fernandez wrote in the record.

The suspect then referred to as BSO and advised them he wanted to show himself in and did so at its Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, deputies stated.

During a police interview, Matthews stated he and the woman had been consuming at Tacocraft Taqueria & Tequila Bar, went to their automobiles after the meal, then mentioned the connection finishing, the record states.

He “declined to provide more information without an attorney present,” Almodovar Fernandez wrote.

Matthews, charged with tried homicide, remained held with out bond in the BSO Main Jail as of Tuesday morning.
